Christmas is here once again and it is a little different this year since I am a continent away from my family in Canada.
The holidays are about being cheerful and most of all, grateful.
I have had an incredible year so far and this is the time for me to enjoy it with my students (my babies) and my good friends.
It is such a special time of the year. What I remember the most from my childhood is the music playing out loud in the house and the wonderful smell coming from the kitchen. Aw, the good old days. I also miss going out to buy a pine tree with my parents, decorate it with mom & siblings and stare at those presents!
In honor of the season (and continue the tradition) I decided to show you my top 5 favorite Christmas songs of all time in English, French and Spanish (cause I grew up learning all the 3 languages at once. Yes, that helped me trace my path from a very young age!). They sure will bring back all those great memories and well create new ones while I am here!
Here there are in no particular order:
Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano
This is a classic for us Latinos but also for everyone around the world. No matter what language you speak, I am pretty sure you have heard it at least once.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Do you remember the most famous Reindeer of all? This is a timeless classic. Who can resist singing along to it?
Mi burrito sabanero
Another favorite! It tells the story of nativity. The real meaning of Christmas. Makes you want to dance too ha ha
Petit Papa Noël
A song known by almost everyone who speaks French. It was one of the first songs that I learned in la langue de Molière.
I have a dream by Abba
Ok, I know it is not really a Christmas song but this season we learned it with my kids, so it has a special meaning for all of us. The lyrics are just beautiful and it teaches my little ones that anything is possible in spite of obstacles or setbacks. They can achieve anything. They should never give up. How amazing is that? Hearing them sing every word perfectly makes me so proud!
So there you have it! I know I left so many others but if I made a list it would be several pages long!
How about you? What are your favorites and why?
Feel free to write a comment below.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas with your loved ones!
