Why You Should Sell Your House and Travel the World

Fill your life with adventures, not things.

Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell and not stuff to show. Travel Quote. Travel.

It’s that age-old question; do I sacrifice parts of my healthy youth to support the financial success of my future? For those of you homeowners – we’re actually here to tell you that it might not be a bad idea to sell your home to travel.

Perhaps this would never be a notion if it weren’t for the seller’s market we’re currently in; as a whole, real estate is up again which mean it’s a good time to sell your home and travel.

Ever wanted to travel the world and truly live life? Then sell your home and go out and explore! Life is a one-time show, so make the best out of it and collect memories, not things!

Will that last? Nobody knows. All we can do is control the circumstance currently upon us, and right now selling your home to travel could be more feasible than ever.

Why?

Well as stated before – it’s a seller’s market, not a buyer’s one. You’re going to make more than you would otherwise. But it’s honestly not just about the money. It’s about the condition of your current situation.

If you’re feeling restless, complacent, stuck-in-a-rut, or just generally ennui, perhaps what you need is to downsize your monetary possessions and take some time to explore the world.

With so many people who don’t have even the opportunity to do so, why not take advantage of the fact that you could sell your home when in an opportune market, then use part of the money for a bit of escape?

What are the benefits of selling your house to travel?

This of course is all a matter of perspective. This is speaking towards those who are in a position to gain from the home and downsize their monetary possessions despite not losing their comfortable ‘backbone.’ But if that’s you – the benefits are endless. It alleviates you of the pressures of being a homeowner.

Family home, blue house.

It allows you to restructure your finances, reconsider your ‘place’ in life, and explore the world. Wanderlust, as overused as that word is and as much of a trend as it’s become, is something that exists in many of us.

Often it creeps into our later ages and forces us to have that morbid thought I wasted all that time trying to create stability and don’t have that many great memories to recall. Often, people feel dissatisfied with all the things they didn’t do, rather than the ones they did.

Another aspect that makes this appealing is that selling your home in today’s market is more dynamic, accessible, and ‘easy’ as ever. The traditional broker route (which takes an 8% fee) is no longer mandatory.

With the spurring of social media, the mecca of the internet, new means of real estate photography and market, it’s completely feasible that you could sell your home all on your own.

This is an entirely different argument all together – as it requires a fair bit of explanation: but if you’re curious, go look into the different ways people are listing their homes (social media presences, multiple listings, video-tours filmed by drone pilots, etc).

Not only that but there’s cash-for-home companies like Frontier Properties that will take your home off your hands with you having to do basically nothing; this sort of company is perfect choice to sell your home professionally, at a price-point you like, without brokerage fees (and all other sorts of fees you run into when selling a property), and doing it quickly.

Traveling is cathartic. It’s safe to say that in general,

traveling is an experience that serves as a pristine edification.

Traveling allows us to stray away from the pressures of everyday life and our circumstance and see it through a lens we would otherwise never have access to. It’s the single most coveted luxury in the world.

How many times do we hear that age-old dream ‘I just want to have enough money to do nothing but travel the world.’ Well – traveling the world doesn’t take a million dollars.

It doesn’t even take so much as to destroy you financially. If you’re in the position to do so, and if you stand to gain by selling in today’s market, it’s certainly an option worth considering.

Sell your home. Downsize your possessions. Give yourself that peace of mind that people covet – and use your success to go and experience things people can only dream of.

Create memories exploring the great wonders rather than fighting to collect a check from your renter. If it makes sense, there’s no reason not to.

The world is yours, so go out there and explore!
