Hotel Drei Raben (or Three Ravens) is one of a kind, historic, small and charming boutique/design hotel, with 22 rooms and suites spread over 5 floors, is strategically located in one of Nuremberg’s best areas, AltStadt (Old Town).
Getting there is super easy. Right outside the airport is the Flughafen subway station and the U2 red line (direction Röthenbach to the south) brings both locals and visitors to Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof or Main Railway Station.
It takes less than a half hour and trains run frequently throughout the day. From there it’s only a short walk to the hotel which is on the right side.
They say never judge a book by its cover right? Well I say never judge a hotel by its exterior!
Right after crossing the main doors, you are surprised at its beautiful and colorful interior.
At the reception you will find one of the warm and friendly faces, Sabrina, who will take your information and hand you the keys to your room.
She goes the extra mile and helps you with your luggage and fit in the elevator!
The room
I was assigned Myth Room No 12.
The nice welcome note on the chalkboard and welcome bag from Nuremberg Tourism office was a nice personal touch and made me feel very welcome!
Legend says that one day, the watchman of Sinwell Tower found a young girl in a blue dress in front of his room. The three ravens fluttered around her, thus the watchman protected and looked after her from that day on. He searched for her parents but he did not find them. Her name was Agnes and since she always wore blue clothes, she was better known as Blue Agnes.
One day a fire broke out in the city and the bells rang on all the towers except the Sinwell Tower where the watchman was posted. He lost his life in his sleep and Agnes disappeared. Some people have seen her silhouette glide through the towers of Nuremberg at night and makes sure no one perishes like her caretaker did.
It may be a pretty sad story but I sure did not feel any sadness. On the contrary, the sound-proof bright, airy, and cozy room has just the right equipment to rest after a long day of walking and in my case, crossing the Atlantic Ocean for nearly 8 hours!
In the rooms you find:
- LCD TV with DVD
- CD Sound system with USB and iPod connection
- Safe
- Minibar
- Telephone
- Air-conditioning system
- Free WLAN/Wi-Fi connection
- Desk
- Lamp
- Multiple outlets
The bathroom
A frosted glass door leads you to the bathroom
A magnifying glass, hairdryer and fresh and crisp towels are at your disposal.
Toiletries
Molton Brown products are offered and they smell so good, you can’t help but love them! It did not know the brand prior to my visit to the hotel but I will be ordering full-size bottles soon 🙂
Cotton-combed bathrobe and slippers are found inside the wardrobe and are pretty comfortable. Everything you need to make yourself at home!
The extras
24 hour front-desk and room service
Valet parking is available for an additional fee
Junior Suites
are equipped with a bathtub in the middle of the room in addition to all the extras mentioned above.
Thirsty?
Head to the hotel’s Bar RabenWein, which specializes in “slow wines”, for cocktails and wine samplings after 9 p.m. What a great way to relax and unwind after a productive day on the town!
Frühstück/Breakfast
This is my second favorite thing in the hotel, besides the super comfy bed for a great night sleep.
A buffet breakfast is served daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. It sure is fuel for the entire day and then some.
Don’t believe me? Look at this. Please do not lick the screen 🙂
My breakfast picks?
Fresh fruit salad, raspberry yogurt, rye bread, cold meats, mozzarella and tomato and of course, a good cup of coffee to start my day.
You couldn’t ask for anything better than this!
Here is my summary:
Pros
Hotel Drei Raben is in a prime location, only steps away from the main railway station, which facilitates transportation around the region and the rest of the country.
It is also located close to many of Nuremberg’s main attractions, pedestrian streets, shopping outlets, historical sites, museums and so much more.
It is a unique establishment which offers design, commodity, great value and excellent service.
Cons
I would actually call it suggestions.
It would be great if there was an international adapter in the room. I had to recharge my electronic devices which were depleted and the one I had purchased did not work but fortunately I was able to charge my mobile thanks to the USB port on the CD sound system. However it took a long time for them to fully recharge.
The safe is located right above the minibar and I left my important documents and cards in my wallet.
Upon return and after opening it, I noticed that they were really hot and was afraid that my cards were demagnetized.
I suggest them moving it a little higher or perhaps on another shelf above. A little move or small change can make a big difference.
However I must specify that programming it or creating a special code thanks to the instructions on the laminated guide were very easy to follow.
Overall there are many more advantages of staying at this property and therefore I recommend it for the best locations, value, comfort and ah that breakfast, which was amazing!

Many thanks to Tourismus Nürnberg and Hotel Drei Raben for coordinating my visit to the city. I received a complimentary stay and was not influenced in any way or manner. I am and will always be very honest when writing a review. You know that I have no problem sharing my two cents but when I say it’s good, it truly is 🙂
More on Nürnberg or Nuremberg coming soon, so stay tuned for the next installments!
Until next time.
Many happy travels.
