There is no better way to learn more about the history of a city than going to a local pub!
Sir John’s Public House is a very popular landmark in downtown Kingston.
The building it currently occupies used to be the law office of Canada’s 1st Prime Minister Sir John A MacDonald.
He played a very important role in the city and was one of the founding fathers of this great nation.
Born in Scotland, he emigrated with his family to Canada at a young age. He became a prominent, successful lawyer and lead the country for nearly 20 years!
As soon as you walk through the doors you are transported back in time.
The pub is reputed for serving great Scottish food and drinks which we all couldn’t wait to try!
But first things first.
The owner, Mr. Paul Fortier, gave us a history lesson. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to do so simply because he is an expert historian and curator!
After processing all the information it was time to eat, drink & be merry 🙂
Drinks to startÂ
I decided to go with white wine from a local winery: Sandbanks
This Scottish specialty was seen at the table.
Main course
I opted for the Tory Club Sandwich and Caesar Salad while the person next to me ordered
Not only the food looked good, it certainly was just delicious, fresh and savory.
Now we could not forget about dessert, so we left a bit of room for it!
As you know, a meal isn’t complete without dessert right?
This was a very sweet surprise…
or how about this?
There’s no need to tell you that we were full & happy.
Our group decided to go for an extra round of drinks but I went back to the hotel to rest and get ready for the next day that promised to be quite busy & productive!
I would like to give thanks to Mr. Paul Fortier for welcoming us at Sir Johns Public House and to Tourism Kingston  for coordinating this visit.
Tell me, where’s your favorite pub ? Â
What’s your favorite drink?Â
I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Til next time 🙂
