Tea | Traveller Soul

I had the chance to visit Namsangol Hanok Village during the Lunar New Year holiday a few weeks ago. It is conveniently located in the heart of Seoul, very close to Mount Namsan (that’s where its name comes from) and only a walking distance from Myeongdong, one of the most visited areas in the city.

It was built around the 1300’s while the Joseon Dynasty ruled the peninsula. These 5 traditional houses, spread in a large and auspicious area, served as residences of high officials and important persons in the society back in those days.

There is something special about this site. I was transported back in time the moment I went through the main gate.

As I entered, I looked to my left and there was a beautiful but frozen pond!

I moved on since the cold air was really getting to me. So I went and looked for a map.

I had no idea it was that big. So I decided to just follow my instincts and see where they would take me. Little did I know about the nice surprise that was waiting for me a few steps ahead!

I came across a traditional tea house and since the cold was winning the battle, I immediately went in!

I was led inside and as soon as the waiter opened the door, I stopped breathing for a second 😉

Isn’t just gorgeous or what? So colorful, so peaceful & warm!

I ordered some fresh green tea (some of you know by now that I’ve a slight addiction to it). There is nothing better to warm your heart & soul. Look at this.

That felt so good! I recharged my batteries and was ready to wander around the traditional houses (Hanoks). I wanted to learn more about the lifestyle back in the 14th century.
