Top 5 favorite road trip songs

Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so On The Road

Jack Kerouac

A few days ago I was reading my Twitter timeline and As We Travel asked two great questions:

“When was last time you took a spontaneous road trip?
Do you sing out loud when you do?”

That immediately caught my attention and instantly replied. I always sing my heart out loud in the car during a road trip! It is so much fun and a great way to release all stress accumulated!

I decided to share with you my top 5 favorite road trip songs.  As soon as I hear them, I remember the exact lyrics and sing along (even getting some strange looks from passing drivers who probably think I’m a case for the nuthouse but that’s ok, I have fun anyway).

Without further ado, let me present them to you.

Beautiful Day by U2

What can be said that has not been said about one of THE greatest rock groups of our era?
I simply cannot imagine traveling or going on a road trip without listening to this Irish band!

This song is one of my favorites, not only because the day I travel is a beautiful day but it also puts you in a great mood instantaneously!

I loved how this video was filmed at an airport and find it exhilarating to see the planes fly over them. This line “don’t let it get away” is unforgettable…

Desert Rose by Sting

Two incredible voices, Sting & Cheb Mami come together in this beautiful and exotic song.
I love how the rhythm and beat take me to another world!

The video was filmed in Las Vegas and in the Nevada desert. It makes me want to go there and hit the road!

Don’t you worry child by Swedish House Mafia

I absolutely adore this awesome song!

It reminds me of the great summer days we had this year and brings back great memories of a particular road trip to an oasis of tranquility in the middle of a forest and in front of a lake 🙂

Life is a highway by Tom Cochrane

This is a classic Canadian rock song that we all love & recognize instantly. It is THE song that truly represents traveling on the road!

What I find truly interesting is that the video was filmed in the Prairies, which I have not visited yet but would love to and you also see some rock formations where Tom in standing on. It makes me think, is it Canada or what?

Life sure is a highway and I do want to drive it all night long 😉

Valio la pena by Marc Anthony

I could not leave out Spanish music, particularly Salsa (my favorite genre).

I am Latina after all and I love Marc Anthony. I’ve been such a passionate fan for years!

This song in particular just gets me dancing & singing out loud in a split second.

The title means “It was worth it” and it sure was! I need to get back to dancing salsa again.

So there you have my top 5 favorite songs I listen to during a road trip, whether it is planned or spontaneous. It makes traveling much more pleasurable and gives you an instant energy boost!

What favorite songs do YOU listen to during a road trip?

Do you sing your heart out too?

I can’t wait to hear from you!

Until next time,

All the best

Kay 🙂
