This week’s photo challenge asks us to share an image that draws viewer’s attention to a focal point and tells a story.
I was recently going through my collection of photos I took while I lived and worked in South Korea and found this great capture of Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, or the Royal Banquet Hall, which is located inside Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul.
This national treasure was originally built in the 14th century, burned to the ground by the Japanese when they invaded the country and reconstructed in the late 1800’s.
As the name states, it used to hold important state banquets during the reign of the Joseon Dynasty. The wooden structure is held by 48 stone pillars and is connected to the palace grounds by 3 bridges.
I really love how regal it looks and the reflection on the pond is incredible. It’s a perfect blend of nature’s elements and it sure does makes you feel as if time just froze don’t you think?
If you are ever in the South Korean capital, I suggest you visit the Palace which is so rich in history and its architecture will surprise you every you look!
Now over to you,
show us a picture that represents ONE!
