Weekly Photo Challenge: Color

“In nature, light creates the color. In the picture, color creates the light.”

Hans Hofmann

When I read that this week’s photo challenge is about color, I immediately thought of a small and quaint town I visited in Central America.

Sarchí is located in the province of Alajuela and about 1 hour away from San José, the capital of Costa Rica. It is the arts & crafts center of the country.

There are many wood factories and shops where articles such as tables, chairs and handicrafts are built and sold.

The most popular is the oxcart which was originally used to transport coffee from the plantations in the highlands down to the port on the Pacific Ocean.

What is so unique is that instead of being a plain, boring cart, artisans paint it with an array of colors that just give it so much life and simply beautiful.

It’s color therapy if you ask me 🙂
