The Life We Never Expected

Life is the greatest adventure isn’t it?  Well, we can plan all we want, down to the last details and take calculated (and well thought) risks.

However, life has a way of throwing us a curve ball out of the blue which often hits us between the eyes or on our head which we totally didn’t expect and knocks us out. It changes the course of our lives…FOREVER.

Andrew and Rachel Wilson certainly did not have the slightest idea of the life that the creator of the universe had planned for them. Their worlds would be turned upside down but yet their faith, strong values and beliefs would pull them through some of their most difficult days.

The Life We Never Expected is not your regular parenting book. It is much more personal, honest and a heartfelt recount of their out of the ordinary lives as parents of two special needs children: Zeke and Anna.

It is an invitation inside their world and all challenges as well as surprises (often hilarious but others not so funny) that put them to the ultimate test on a daily basis.

Honestly, one can’t help but wonder where in the world they find the strength, energy, patience, determination, understanding and above all their sanity in the middle of it all.

They witness, laugh, cry, pray, wait, breathe and go on by always looking up and ask for celestial intervention which is always needed and very welcome. Sometimes it is not obvious but signs are everywhere and when they are at the end of a dead-end street, they simply let go.

Andrew and Rachel are extremely fortunate to be surrounded by some extraordinary people because after all it does take an entire village to raise a child. They have the love and support of their families, specialists but most importantly, the captain of their ship (Oh mighty God) is always there 24/7.

While they may not exactly understand why they were the chosen few and not someone else, dealing with these two special little human beings, they fully trust that it was their life mission and know that they were equipped and skilled to lead and set an example for others.

Any parent or family would greatly benefit from reading this moving, well-written and sincere book. It will teach them to appreciate the souls that God entrusted them with and help them become the best persons they could possibly be. It will help them understand their offspring a little better and be appreciative that they chose them to guide, look after and love them in this lifetime 🙂

God’s calling for our lives is irrevocable, thus we must always stay in faith, strong and be grateful for what we experience, may it be good or not so good. Life is indeed the best school there is and we must pass our classes with flying colors!
