The Montreal Snow Village truly is a winter wonderland.
Modeled after similar ice hotels in Finland and Norway, it is the perfect example of what can be done with the best and bountiful resource mother nature provides during the cold season.
The main attractions are structures made entirely of ice and snow: a hotel, a restaurant, a bar, a chapel and so much more.
New York City was selected as this year’s theme, so it is reflected everywhere from each room and suite, to the sculptures and meeting spaces!
I recently had the chance to visit and was very impressed with this man-made village.
Let me take you on a tour of the village through 35 images.
Enjoy 🙂
The village is open until March 24 and definitely worth a visit.
Tip: Make sure you bundle up as it gets quite chilly after a little while. Why not have a hot chocolate at the ice bar before touring the premises? It will keep you warm 😉
I would like to live this experience and stay the night over. That definitely be would be a cool adventure!
How about you?
Would you ever sleep in an ice hotel?
breathtaking, my favorite is the bar..
Thank you!
Yes, the bar is great. ♥ The details (bottles chilling in ice boxes!). I had a hot chocolate and so glad I did 😉
There was no music when i visited but i imagine it must be great 😉
Great photos! I love the “Gothic cathedral” room and that bar looks fun 🙂
Thank you so much! Glad you liked them!
The cathedral inside is so beautiful, all those details carved on the wall!
Spending the night there must be quite an experience 😉
I bet the hotel package is an interesting experience! Is it cold just standing in the ice rooms? I just worry I wouldn’t get out of the hot tub because my “room” was too cold 🙂
Yes it is quite cold inside but if you keep walking around it’s ok.
Ah i didn’t even get to see the hot tub but that must be great and the view of the city too 😉
It looks like a magical place. I love the fire in the ice block although I must say “Brrrr!”
Brr indeed 😉
It is magical, one of a kind!
That photo of ice blocks and fire place is actually the music booth inside the ice bar!
I guess you can request a song to “break the ice” and dance with fellow guests 😉
That is amazing! Can’t imagine the work that goes into it, only to all melt away.
I would give staying there a try, not sure how long I would make it.
Isn’t it something?
It takes about a month and cold weather of course!
I also read it costs million$ to make.
Yes it will all melt down when spring arrives!
I would love to stay overnight there, but I doubt my wife would want to join me. Would be really cool to at least enjoy a drink there. Montreal is on our short list; might make it there this year, but won’t be this month.
I heard they give you sleeping bags, so you stay warm!
A drink at the bar is a must 😉
Hope you come to town, you will love it!
Very cool photos, Karla! 🙂
Thank you bella!
Glad you liked them.
If given the chance, would you sleep in a cool room? 😉
Hmmm… maybe! 😉
It’s for brave souls ha ha 🙂
Amazing! Very cold but amazing!
Absolutely!
It’s beautiful but cold 😉
Great collection of shots! You will have to stay some time – is is an awesome experience! I loved it! Was a little cold…but worth it! Shared from the night on my blog – http://traveldestinationbucketlist.com/2013/02/20/the-night-i-slept-in-an-ice-hotel/ Highly recommend the night!
Thank you so much!
It’ll be open for a few more weeks before it all melts down.
Happy to hear you had a great time.
Will read your post shortly 😉
What an intriguing looking place. I just love all the detail that they have carved into the rooms. I wouldn’t mind spending the night just to see how comfortable the rooms are (the onesie would be essential wear). Plus it would be some story to tell on the return home!
Yes the carvings are spectacular! I actually sat on a bed & felt comfy. I heard they give guests a sleeping bag, so that keeps you warm all night.
Though you’ve to go to a bathroom elsewhere 😉
It’d definitely be quite a tale to tell! One for the books!
How nifty!! I would’ve loved to see them… too bad they’ll be gone when I get there this summer.
They are nice indeed.
All will melt down in a couple of weeks when the temperature rises 😉
Let me know when you’ll be in town!
P.S: BTW will you be at TBEX in June?
Thank you. It was magical 😉
It’s definitely worth a visit.
Just a word of advice, bundle up as it can get pretty cold!
It did work Sam thank you!
Well if you come in February or March next year you will be able to experience it!
Very cool & unique.
I’m happy you liked the pics.
Thanks for stopping by! K.
I’d love to see it, but I don’t think I’d want to sleep there!
It sure is lovely to see and visit!
I wouldn’t stay overnight either. Too cold. I prefer a nice room & comfy bed 😉
